Tennessee School Board Appreciation Week

2013 School Board Appreciation Week set Jan. 27- Feb. 2 

The Tennessee School Boards Association (TSBA), school systems, and communities across the state will recognize the work of boards of education Jan. 27 - February 2, 2013 during School Board Appreciation Week.

Each year, "School Board Appreciation Week" is proclaimed by the governor and celebrated statewide to honor the school board members who govern our schools and make a difference in the lives of our children and communities. Public Education is everyone's business, and it holds the key to the success of every community.

School board members devote their time and efforts to ensure that our students receive a first-class education and an opportunity for future success in life. School Board Appreciation Week is a chance for the community to thank these individuals for their commitment to our children and their education.

Communities statewide will take this opportunity to highlight and showcase the work of local board of education during this special week. School board members are extraordinary people who voluntarily tackle the enormous job of governing school districts. Their actions and decisions affect the present and future lives of our children.

 Even though showing appreciation should be a year-round process, taking advantage of the designated School Board Appreciation Week will ensure that these important people receive some of the thanks they deserve.

School Board Week in Tennessee is part of National School Board Recognition Month, which highlights school board members across the nation throughout the month of January.
